The fan is suppose to run when needed or for laptops under the setup mode. Basic enabling the power setup should also be part of this. Robert, offered the usual fix, you have to go back to restore/install to get it all back again, that hurts. sometimes. If you noticed it worked on its own w/o manual intervention, use the OS restore feature, pick a restore point and allow that to reset things. Otherwise, when a major overhaul for whatever s/w or install of new features, etc., that may have hosed your fan setup. If you want, use a "laptop cooler pad" which on its own may provide enough cooling.
