Hi everyone,
I am having a bit of a problem and hope some of the experts in the forum might have some suggestions.
My Inspiron will not turn on. When the AC adapter is plugged in, none of the LED indicating lights on the front of the computer illuminate. One day it worked, the next....nada. It seems completely dead - I suspect the motherboard is fried (in which case, the computer is probably not worth fixing) but I am still hopeful!
Here is what I have attempted so far....
Tried three different replacement AC adapters - no lights illuminated on the computer. (Dell AC adapter LED is lit - so I am reasonably sure it isnt an adapter problem)
Took the battery out and plugged in Dell AC adapter - no lights
Tried sliding the AC adapter plug slowly into and out of the computer - no lights
Removed the plastic panel on top of the keyboard and the keyboard itself to check for any loose wires (the cooling fan had recently been replaced) - could find no loose wires.
Blew out the battery contacts with compressed air then reinstalled - nothing changed.
This computer is about 4 years old, and I am loathe to spend any more money on it - even to have a repair shop look at it. I have searched the forums here and seen some similar (but not identical) problems that have led me to believe that the motherboard requires replacement.
Can anyone out there suggest some other things I might try, or have some suggestions on what the problem might be?
Thanks,
Ian
