Hello everyone,

I just received this computer with Ubuntu installed on it. After booting and using it for 5 minutes, the computer froze and we coudln't do anything of it.

After turning it off and on, some horrible beeps came out and didn't stop so I decided to get rid of Ubuntu and install Windows 7 (I had a legal licence of it). I first installed 7 32bits, everything was fine but the wireless, Windows didn't see it. Just after that I realized I should have installed 64 bits version so I booted on a Ubunbtu live USB to get rid of other partition before the clean install.

The moment I deleted the Utility partition (300MB, maybe 10MB used) with Gparted the fan started to make an horrible noise (4600rpm) and never stopped. After that I installed 7 x64 but the fan never stopped its horrible noise. I updated everything, I still have no wifi. I just don't know what to do.

Should I restore the utility partition ? Where the noise fan is coming from ? Deletion of this partition ? Using x64 instead of 32bits ? Which driver should I use for the wireless card as none is pointed for my configuration (only ethernet) ?

I'm really sorry for my poor English, I've been on the computer for 6 hours and I just want to destroy it right now.

Thank you for your help

Hi froggydell,

I suggest you to update the BIOS and install the chipset, graphics, and wireless drivers from the Network section in the same order. This may fix the issue as the speed of the fan would be controlled based on the load. You can download the drivers from the following link:
dell.to/PijbRm

Please reply to this message if you need further assistance.

Thanks and Regards,

Hello Rajath !

First, thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate.

I already have A05 rev for the BIOS, the version is only A04 on Dell Support Center.

I also installed AMD drivers but I didn't find the wireless driver... I have no name or device of the wireless card so I just don't know which one to choose... I tried 2 of them but neither did work.

About the chipset, do I have to install all the drivers ?

Thank you again !
